Overview

Drawing on the language of 17th century Dutch art with it’s readymade gravitas - mortality, fragility, ostentation - Angela Lizon paintngs stage narratives using digital collage, photographs, oversized flowers, kitsch objects and ornaments that investigate the tension between 'high' and 'low' art. Her cultural heritage is reflected in the her paintings, Angela Lizon describes her  heritage as a blend of Polish exotica and Cockney humour, which influences the work both atmospherically, emotively and aesthetically. Her most recent work draws directly from observational research of flora and fauna in her own garden which is combined woth art historical resources.
